该设备用于测定固体物料的密度（包括骨架密度、纯密度、真实密度）以及混合密度或表观密度。简而言之，它可用于纯物质分析、常规固体及组分密度测定，同时适用于检测双组分（非均质构成）复合材料或混合物的成分（如金属含量检测），并能在已知固体密度条件下测定材料内部孔隙率（闭孔空隙体积占比，例如泡沫材料）。
